About Nichole
I was born in and grew up in Rural New Mexico
I grew up surrounded by mountains, ranches, and national forest. We had dogs, cats, horses, goats, snakes, and hermit crabs for pets. There were free roaming cows in pastures everywhere. I would fall asleep at night listening to the coyotes and owls. My mother was an artist, a carpenter and student. My father was a wrangler, mechanic, photographer, and respiratory therapist. My family is also full of scientists, service members, lawyers, and union members. I graduated high school when I was 15, and started college.
Then…I got married and moved around a bit.
I got married in 2006 and moved to Fort Bragg, NC with my then husband. While we were there I was a Family Readiness Group Leader, a Care team member, and family advocate. In 2009 we moved to Fort Carson, Colorado. We had our daughter there. I went back to school in 2020 and finished an AS with a physics designation. Afterwards, my daughter and I moved to Boulder, CO so I could finish my degree.
Currently.
I will be finishing a bachelors in mathematics with a focus in applied math and statistics next year. I’m also getting minors in public health and philosophy. Really I spend my time studying math, data, programming, and how they can be used to improve systems that impact people’s daily lives. My intention has been to go into childhood cancer research. I’m also the Chairperson of the Graduate and Family Housing Resident Council.
